I love entrepreneurship.
I grew up watching my father run his own business, and I was always around entrepreneurs. I knew people that ran bars, motorcycle stores, tattoo studios, restaurants, music stores and just about any other type of business you can imagine. They inspired me.
The thing about passion is- it is ingrained in you.
You can deny it, avoid it, try to bury it, but there will always be a feeling in your stomach that things just aren’t the way they are supposed to be.
If you work an ordinary job, you’ll see bad decisions get made and you’ll crush your teeth together in a grimace. You might even feel your skin draw tight from goose bumps.
That’s the entrepreneur in you trying to bust its way out and shout “DON’T DO THAT! WHY ON EARTH DOES THAT SEEM LIKE A GOOD IDEA?”
But you’ll suppress it, because this isn’t your business and that’s not your place.
There are plenty of entrepreneurs working ordinary jobs. They just haven’t broken out yet.
Some people think of entrepreneurship as an alternative to a job. If you pursue it that way, then you will simply end up with another job; even if it’s the business you own.
We’ve all met the miserable entrepreneur.
They lack the passion. It isn’t in them.
Entrepreneurship is a lifetime commitment to build something bigger than yourself. If that inspires you, then you probably have entrepreneurship in you.
If you want to be an entrepreneur simply because you hate, hate, hate your job, then you should probably just find a better job.
Passion.
